Tamping
Perfectly positioned

When renovating tracks and switches, modern tamping machines and scrapers by Plasser & Theurer achieve above-average performance and high-quality maintenance. We rely on the tamping machines Unimat 09-32 4S Dynamic, Unimat 09-16 4S and Unimat 08-475 4S and the scrapers USP 2010 SWS-U, USP 2010 SWS and SSP 110. Our employees’ experience, competence, and motivation combined with up-to-date technology are decisive factors for completing demanding construction projects on time.

PORR Bahnbau Stopfmaschine 09 32

09-32/4S Dynamic
Tamping machine

The Unimat 09-32/4S Dynamic (with DGS, a dynamic track stabiliser) is a continually running two-sleeper automatic levelling, lifting, straightening, and tamping machine with a stabilisation trailer for tracks, switches and crossings.

As the first of its design, it combines the features of a continually running route tamping machine (09-CSM), the switch tamping machine (09-CSM) and a DGS. This makes it possible to drive on the tracks continually and tamp them in cycles, sometimes in the switch area (depending on the size of the switch). It also allows switches to be maintained with three-track lifting and four-track tamping capability.

09-16/4S
Tamping machine

The Unimat 09-16/4S Dynamic is a continually running one-sleeper automatic levelling, lifting, straightening, and tamping machine for tracks, switches and crossings. It unites the features of a continually working route tamping machine (09-CSM), the switch tamping machine Unimat 4S. That makes it possible to drive on the tracks continually and tamp them in cycles, sometimes in the switch area (depending on the size of the switch). It also allows switches to be maintained with three-track lifting and four-track tamping capability.

08-475/4S (No. 961 & No. 1161)
Tamping machines

The universal tamping machine Unimat 08-475 4S is a cyclically running one-sleeper automatic levelling, lifting, straightening, and tamping machine for tracks, switches and crossings. For maintaining heavy switch construction, the machine works with three-track lifting and four-track tamping capability. And the tamping machine is equipped with a turning conveyor system (turning device) for tracks and switches, steep belt conveyor, ballast silo with 3m3 with a ballast spreader for gathering the excess ballast, and a small iron scrubber. The machine with the number 1161 also has an automatic laser control system for split long sleepers and is also equipped with a height levelling laser in combination with a curved laser system and a sanding system.

USP 2010 SWS, USP 2010 SWS-U and USP SWS-2
Scrapers

Ballast bedding secures the track position and protects against track buckling. To avoid track buckling, the right machines must be used for a technically correct execution of the ballast bedding’s cross section. PORR uses the USP 2010 SWS and the USP 2010 SWS-U as universal ballast spreaders and scrapers for tracks and switches. Both types have the following features:

  • Front-mounted plough, side ploughs, middle plough, ballast repelling shield
  • Turning device with reversible cross conveyor belt, steep conveyor belt and ballast silo (Type SWS with 10m³, Type SWS-U with 7m³)
  • Ground-level conveyor belt for recovering ballast material via distributor shafts
  • Small iron scrubber (rotating) and dust-preventing spraying system for reducing dust accumulation

Type SWS-U also gives you the option of attaching an MFS car (material transport and silo unit). This can be loaded with ballast material via a hydraulically extensible transfer belt built under the silo. The scraper SWS-2 also has two sweeping systems/brush buckets, which enables continuous processing of track and points sleepers, as well as a fine sweeping brush to leave the tracks "swept clean".
