Demolition

Novartis Research Centre

Vienna, Austria / 05.2013 - 10.2013

Several pollutants needed to be removed before demolition work on the former Novartis Research Centre could begin. In particular, 10,400 running metres of joints containing PCBs needed to be removed by means of high-pressure jet equipment. For this purpose, every affected part of the building needed to be secured by means of geo-textiles beforehand, to make sure no joint material would be emitted to the environment.

Rehabilitation, gutting and demolition

Gutting work was performed at the same time to remove all lines, cables and other infrastructure from the building. The buildings thus cleaned were then demolished. 124,000t of demolition material were treated and re-used at the construction site.

What ultimately counts in the construction business is successfully completed projects. PORR has many of these.
